Barbara Comer CFP
Registered Office Assistant/Partner
Comer & Greak Financial Consultants was formed in 1993 by Elizabeth Greak and Barbara Comer to serve a select client base specializing in providing investment management services as well as financial planning, insurance and tax services to their investment clients. They made the decision then to remain small and offer individualized service and stand by that credo today. The business has evolved over the years incorporating more technology but the mission is the same - they are dedicated to provide quality, informed and personal service to our clients.
Barbara is one of the originating partner with Liz. Her early professional experience included industrial oil sales back in the 1970s when their were virtually no women in that field. She began working in financial services in 1981 with CIGNA Individual Financial Services as a financial consultant. Barbara left CIGNA to open her office (Nutmeg Financial Services) in 1989 as an independent practitioner. She joined with Liz to form their partnership after a few years to diversify their offerings and client base. Barbara is still involved with the business on a part time basis (but now as the Registered Office Assistant) and loves to keep up with the current markets and financial scene. She has an incredible historical perspective of the ever changing world of finance, having working through many evolutionary times. Barbara is a CFP, attended Southern CT State University and is a proponent of lifetime learning.
Barbara was very involved with professional organizations, participating in laying the groundwork for this evolving industry. She served on many state and national boards and chaired many events and committees including as president of the then ICFP and IAFP, Conference for Advanced Planning, Registry and Practitoner Councils and the CFP Board of Professional Review. She also made a commitment to many volunteer organizations - churches, shelters, and community service groups - serving on their board and participating in many projects. Now, besides working, Barbara enjoys cultural events, reading, keeping up with current events, skiing, golf and other seasonal activities. She is currently very involved with Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, welcoming them as family members and showing them.
